Is Facebook about to Trademark the term “Face”?
When you are able to trademark something as generic as “face”, millions of websites and domain names can wind up subject for confiscation. The “Realtor” trademark is a prime example where real estate agents are not allowed to user the term “realtor” within their domain name without permission from the National Association of Realtors owning the term and deciding who can use it in their business name and who can not.
Facebook is just a payment away from trademarking the word “Face.” As of today the U.S. Patent And Trademark Office has sent the social networking site a Notice of Allowance, which means they have agreed to grant the “Face” trademark to Facebook under certain conditions.
