Penn State assistant football coach Mike McQueary testified today about what he saw in 2002 when he walked into the locker room to retrieve some recruiting tapes.
Testifying at a preliminary hearing for two Penn State officials, McQueary said he heard "rhythmic slapping sounds" in the locker room shower, according to USA Today, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Associated Press. McQueary said saw he Jerry Sandusky behind a boy in the shower, and both were naked. "I believe they were having some kind of intercourse," McQueary said, but he wasn't 100 percent sure.
McQueary said he called his father, and the next day he reported conduct that was sexual in nature to head coach Joe Paterno, but he didn't give explicit details out of respect. Later, McQueary said, he described the incident to athletic director Tim Curley and senior vice president Gary Schultz. "I told them that I saw Jerry in the showers with a young boy and that what I had seen was extremely sexual and over the lines and it was wrong," McQueary said.
McQueary said he did not use words like “anal intercourse” or “sodomy” in his conversations with any of the three men.
The preliminary hearing today was for Curley and Schultz, who are accused of lying to a grand jury and failure to report the allegations.
