Hi everyone, The Tennessee Democratic Party is now hiring paid canvassers - interviews are being held NOW. If you're looking for supplemental income or just something to tide you over, this may be the perfect opportunity for you. I've pasted the job description below - if interested, please send your resume ASAP (Monday or Tuesday) to jobs@tndp.org. Also, Representative Sherry Jones needs our help! She is hands-down *the* most progressive representative in Nashville - and perhaps even the state - and we need to make certain she stays in office. To find out more about what she's done to protect the rights of women, children, domestic violence victims, and more, please go to repsherryjones.com. She's having a volunteer dinner/meeting this Wednesday from 5:30-7pm at the Steelworkers Hall - please consider signing up. I've heard many of you wishing we had a liberal rep - well, here she is! Go to http://repsherryjones.com/augustvolmtg to sign up and attend the meeting! Best, Kathy Tennessee Democratic Party Paid Field Canvassing Positions Paid field canvassing positions are an essential part of the Tennessee Democratic Party’s new grassroots canvassing initiative. These positions entail canvassing neighborhoods throughout the Nashville area with anticipated expansion into other areas throughout the state. Beyond the overall goal of being a positive representation of the Tennessee Democratic Party there are two critical objectives for each interaction a field canvasser has with Tennessee Democrats – acquiring volunteers to assist with our organizing and outreach and raising financial support. The typical workday runs from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Each workday is divided into two parts: training and canvassing. Training runs from 2:00 pm until 3:45 pm. After training, canvassers then travel out into the field in teams to canvass generally from 4:30 pm until 8:30 pm. Part time positions are available for people that would be interested in working three or four days per week.
Field Manager Position:
Field Manager positions are paid canvassing positions that involve more leadership and more responsibility. Beyond their own canvassing, field managers play a pivotal role in the overall office’s effectiveness by actively participating in staff development and overseeing the management of field research. Field Managers will begin the day early enough to prepare the field research for their team. This typically means a work day that runs from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm. These positions don’t require specific leadership experience, but they do require the individual to be responsible, professional and goal-oriented while having the ability to train and motivate others.
How We Are Different:
The Tennessee Democratic Party is one of the only state parties in the country to have a fully integrated grassroots outreach project with paid canvassing positions. The program was developed not only to expand the party, but also to cultivate a new generation of professional and experienced grassroots talent for Tennessee politics - providing Democratic activists with the necessary skills to organize future political campaigns across the state. As a part of the program, field canvassers will have the opportunity to work closely with the state party's staff and candidates and receive exposure to campaign mechanics in the process. As our grassroots efforts expand there will be opportunities for canvassers to move into other leadership roles within the party.
Compensation:
Field canvassers are paid positions with the Tennessee Democratic Party. Pay is divided into two components: base pay and bonus pay. Typically, for a full week, the two combined will equal between $350 and $600.
How to Apply:
Paid Canvassers are the backbone of our new initiative, and as a direct link between Tennessee voters and the state party, need to maintain a certain level of professionalism, enthusiasm, and performance. Apply by emailing your resume to jobs@TNDP.org.
