Officer accused of rape heads to court today | Nashville City Paper

Decommissioned Metro police officer Jeffrey Poole is set to formally face charges Wednesday morning that he sexually assaulted women while on duty.

Poole’s arraignment hearing was continued last week because of a conflict with an unrelated trial and is set for Wednesday morning in Judge Seth Norman’s courtroom.

Poole, 39, surrendered to police Aug. 6, the same day a Davidson County grand jury indicted him on 12 charges including rape, official misconduct, sexual battery and patronizing prostitution.

The police department decommissioned Poole on May 18 after its Sex Crimes Division opened an investigation into claims made by women Poole had arrested. A 27-year-old prostitute said the officer fondled her and made passes at her while he was on duty and in uniform.

Another alleged victim, a 35-year-old woman claimed Poole raped her in a Dickerson Pike motel room while on duty.

At least two other women have accused Poole of fondling them or paying them for sex.

He was released from jail on Aug. 12 after posting $200,000 bond.

Poole graduated from the police academy in March 2008 and worked in the East Precinct from July 2008 until he was transferred to the South Precinct in January.
